Fo Guang Shan Chicago Buddhist Temple
Fo Guang Shan Chicago Buddhist Temple Chicago (IBPS Chicago) is a branch of the Fo Guang Shan International Buddhist Order. Founded in 1967 by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, Fo Guang Shan has over 200 branch temples throughout the world carrying out the goals of propagating Humanistic Buddhism and establishing a Pure Land on earth. Our objectives are:
1. To propagate Buddhist teachings through cultural activities.
2. To nurture talents through education.
3. To benefit societies through charitable programs.
4. To purify human minds through Buddhist practices.
FGS Chicago was founded in 2001 and hosted a grand opening at the current location in 2009. Our annual activities include
